Mary Janes

I can't believe I made a little pair of shoes!

[Two and half years ago I couldn't sew at all. Not a single stitch, by hand or otherwise. I certainly could not thread a machine, let alone read a pattern or even figure out where to start. But I really wanted to learn. Oh, to sew a simple straight line! That's all I wanted to be able to do. And now, look... A pair of shoes!]

Actually, two pairs...

[Two girls = two pairs of shoes. That's the way it has to be around here.]

I used this pattern ( I love buying PDF patterns online, so I can get sewing straight away), managed to find some interfacing in my fabric stash and started them on Tuesday. I finished them up last night, ready to pop on the girls feet this morning;

My favourite part was sewing on the cute little button hole and button;

Livvie skipped around in hers all morning...

Unfortunately, Elly's feet must have grown overnight, because despite measuring her feet and even going up one size on the pattern, they didn't fit her!

So you know what I will be doing tonight... (I think these are going to be one of those things I get addicted to making, like those Lazy Days skirts...)

Beautiful job. Where do you buy most of the patterns online from and do you know of any adult top patterns? I have been searching for some simple classic looking blouses...maybe I just use something I have already. You have inspired me to get going and sew!!!
