My Old Singer

My beautiful, old (but new to me) Singer Sewing Machine.

I have been looking for, and dreaming of, one of these and this one ticked all the boxes...

I love the lamp attachment, the old table top seeped in history with it's scratches and marks (there is even a lone sequin glued to the side of it!), the worn out knee control and all the little details;

The girls have been trying really hard to listen to me when I say 'Please don't touch... And no fiddling with the dials!' but it is proving irresistible with these great old levers;

So lovely;

Sew lovely;

And would you believe, all for the grand old price of .... $1.25. I still can't believe it, but that is the amazing thing about Ebay and those sellers who start the bidding at 99 cents. Crazy!

And that is not all... Look at what we found inside the little drawer;

Instruction manual!

Thank goodness;

My personal favourite;

I can imagine how excited the original owner was, to have their first three lessons on their new machine! I even found a little box of needles;

...with close to 100 needles inside!

And lots of other little handy bits and pieces;

Handwritten notes;

Thank you to my Mum who found it for me and my Dad who picked it up, delivered it to my door and refused to be reimbursed for the cost... so all this became mine, for free!

I definitely won't be buying any lottery tickets in the near future... I think I have used up all my good luck on this beautiful old machine!
