I should definitely have bought more of this beautiful fabric from Saffron Craig at the Craft fair... Poor Elly thought I'd made this skirt for her (being green, her favourite colour), but I'd actually made it in Livvie's size and there was no way she was giving it to her little sister!
I do realise there will come a time when they will be too embarrassed to wear anything I make for them, but I think as long as I keep using beautiful fabric like this, I'm safe.
I have been trying to take some time each day, for a bit of sewing... even if it's 10 minutes of cutting one day, then 20 minutes of sewing the next. Sitting down at my sewing machine always piques the girl's interest in creating something too... and I love it how they truly believe we can make anything we want to, with just a bit of fabric, a couple of buttons and some ribbon!
Elly's skirt will be next.... She will want to help with everything and I love that. Over the recent school holidays, Nick and I made the {rather big!} decision to take Elly out of Preschool for now. She really wasn't herself there and unfortunately, became incredibly frustrated by the experience.
We agonised over the decision... but ultimately thought it best for her to be at home for now. (Just as we believe it is best for Livinia to be at Preschool, she absolutely loves it for all the structure, being a part of a class and just thrives amongst all the beautiful friendships she has made there). But what a difference it has made to Elly! I have honestly never seen her happier and it is so lovely having her at home with me. It was hard, giving my shifts at school to someone else, but thankfully, they were all very understanding and I am able to be involved with the school in other ~ more creative ~ ways, but more on that later.
Anyway, I think I might be sharing more preschooler crafts on this blog, as this seems to be what consumes my world right now! And in the rare moments (mere minutes!) that I get to myself, I will try to do a little bit of sewing...
