Advent - Day #2

This week we started making little Christmas gifts to give to Livvie's preschool friends. We used air-dry clay, a round cookie cutter and a new reindeer stamp to make Rudolph pendants;

...with a single red sequin for his little red nose!

I was surprised how quickly Livvie churned these out (must be all that practice with play dough over the years!). We had to wait 24 hours to air-dry and then painted a clear glaze on top. She loved the fact they hardened when dried - certainly different to what usually happens when the play dough is left out and it crumbles into pieces! Next time we will have to make something 3D - maybe a snowman or two...

Yesterday we made Christmas cookies for a treat (using Martha's sugar cookie recipe), and imprinted them with a new Santa stamp;

At the request of Elly, we put a couple in the freezer, so we have personalised cookies to leave out for Santa.

We have the Christmas books out again...

Oldies, but goodies....

And new ones too!

And the highlight of the week, was Nick's Mum delivering our Christmas Cake;

She makes us one every year and I must say, this is the best yet.... so delicious and rich.

It's only Day #2 on the Advent Calendar, but it's already beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

Wow, I love the innovative use of stamps on the clay and the cookie, and that Christmas cake is amazing. Lucky you, to have someone to make one for you!.

Glad to see someone else reveling in the advent tradition. It seems to come alive when there are children involved :).
