Santa

Last weekend was the Christmas Party for Livvie's Preschool Class.

I had been a bit nervous about my 5 year old daughter recognising her grandfather dressed up as Santa Claus... but I needn't have worried.

Thank you very much to those who commented or emailed me advice. I liked your suggestion of telling the girls that Santa has lots of 'helpers' ... because every Santa they encounter looks a little bit different! I thought this would also give me the excuse, if Poppy was recognised at the Preschool Party, to say that Poppy was asked by Santa to be a special helper this year....

As it turned out, Livvie was one of the first children to greet Santa at the party;

And amidst all the excitement, she was none the wiser!

She and her best friend led him to his seat...

He was soon surrounded by children, Livvie at his side the whole time.

They all took turns sitting on his lap, telling him how old they were;

And detailing what they want for Christmas (thankfully, this time Elly didn't bring the Target catalogue, with every single toy circled!)

Livvie did look deep into Santa's eyes and studied him carefully as they spoke to each other, but thankfully he passed the test for another (the last?) year!

Everyone loved Santa, he was so patient and kind to all the children. I think he even fooled some of the parents, with many asking me if he was the real Santa (of course, to me, he is!). It was a magical day, with many happy memories for everyone.

Thank you, Santa!

I am so glad the day worked out well for all of you. I am sure it was a very special experience for your children's grandfather. I feel a little teary just thinking about it. Best wishes for Christmas!
