Fairy House

Early yesterday evening, the girls began making a fairy house....

It all began with requests for a cardboard box, scissors and the glue gun. Pretty soon, they had created (under my supervision with regards to the glue gun!) a welcome sign and decorated the outside of the box with pictures of fairies and flowers;

Livvie wanted to make all the furniture out of cardboard(!), but seeing as it was so close to dinnertime, I persuaded her to choose some pieces from their dolls' house;

She cut a piece of fabric to make a blanket for the bed, cotton balls were added for pillows and most importantly, a sherbet bomb was put on the table, as a special treat for the fairies (it's their favourite, apparently).

As darkness fell, the girls made a path out of buttons so the fairies could find their way...

It would have been perfect if I had remembered to go out and sprinkle some glitter around last night, however I was so tired, it completely slipped my mind! However, the fairy house still holds much magic for them, as they are quite sure that someone or something moved the furniture around just a little bit last night!

They have left some rose petals with drops of water inside, for the fairies to drink on the little table tonight, so the girls will be checking for signs of fairies again tomorrow....

Needless to say, I have the glitter shaker right beside me and that's the first thing I'm going to do, after I hit 'publish'!

Hi Margaret, I just wanted to thank you so much for your guest post over at Sew Together. I made one of the lovely skirts with detatchable flowers for a 6yo party on Saturday and have been advised by her mum at school yesterday it has already been worn/washed/waiting for ironing again! It is such a lovely idea and I will be making another one for a 3yo party in 2 weeks. I saw Maryanne on Monday and told her how much I loved your post. Thank you for sharing your idea! I love the circus party - have to keep that one in mind for my girls another time. Cheers, Cath
