We've had a very tiring week, with a sick bub (Ollie still has a cold) and sleepless nights, but still enjoyed a few little fun things to celebrate Valentines Day yesterday.
The girls woke up to pink balloons in their bedroom;

(This is about half of them... the rest are all around our house now. Thanks Nick, for blowing them up at 10pm the night before ~ yeah, me and my crazy ideas! But that's why you love me, right?)
For breakfast, we had love-heart mini pancakes;
Please don't think I made these from scratch. We bought a packet of Tiptop brand pancakes.. and I used a cookie cutter to make the hearts, then drizzled honey on top. I didn't even heat them and of course, the girls didn't even care! I put a couple in Livvie lunchbox too.
We gave the girls their Valentine's gifts before school. This was Elly's;
And Livvie's;
A new t-shirt each (which they need more of, anyway) and a little wooden compass they saw at our local Pharmacy (which has the best selection of toys - very convenient for sick children!... Not so great for parents already spending a fortune on medicines for their sick children!)
Anyway, they have been perfect for all their pirate games of late!
Livvie changed into her new t-shirt straight after school...
The silhouette looks slightly different, with the crinkles in the fabric hehe.
Their Grandma, Mimi, gave them new hats for Valentines day;
Livvie the Lion
And Elly the...
...Alpaca?
(We're not sure... it's either a mouse, a lamb or an alpaca. Elly likes Alpaca's best).
Little Ollie was at his most sick on Valentine's Day, although you wouldn't know it from the look of him here;
He has the remarkable ability to smile through anything... including sickness and extreme tiredness.
As for Nick and I....my, how times have changed;
This was us, 9 years ago (in Victoria, BC, Canada.). Back then, we would be celebrating with a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant. This year, we took turns holding the sick baby, to give each other a break and get some much needed sleep! True Love, truly.
With some foresight, I did manage to buy Nick some cologne in time for Valentines's Day and he brought home a little surprise for me...
I have come to expect chocolates on V-Day, but he definitely knows me... and my current craving is cake! It was very hard and took all my willpower, but I did share these with the girls and Nick as an after dinner treat;
(One last treat before I go back to Weight-Watchers tomorrow to lose the last few post-baby kilos! It will be so nice to be able to button-up my jeans again. It was either that, or buy new ones.)
And today, Ollie is less congested and definitely on-the-mend!
... and that meant it was time to wedge another tiny newborn hat on his head!

Such a lovely idea, everyone gets to celebrate the special day. Such a lovely family you have.
I hope that Oli is feeling all better now.
Great idea for shirts & hats for the ladies.
Your photo from Victoria - you both look the same :-)
